Embracing Your Online Audience

They watch your nervous ticks, the way that you move across the stage or they count the amount of times you say “um”. When we try to embrace our audience online, it’s a whole different ballgame.

There are numerous things that you should consider before you try to establish that bond with your audience.

1) Don’t Sound Too Pitchy

Think of the way that you feel when somebody tries to force you into a situation you do not feel comfortable with. You immediately want to get away from that situation, right? Well, the same goes for an online audience. Once they get that “used car salesman” vibe from you, they’re going to hit the back button and go on to the next option. Cool, calming text that isn’t too technical will aid you in keeping them on your page.

2) Establish Credibility With Your Audience

You don’t have to be an expert in your field, but you need to make it sound like you’re an expert in your field. This is pretty easy if you use a writing voice that takes the form of “If you can think of it, I’ve tried it. And this is the best!” Establishing credibility will definitely help you embrace your audience because in their eyes, you’re the leading authority on the subject. If you’re pitching a product or a program, make sure that you know the ins and outs of that project or program.

3) Empathize With Your Audience

You want to make them feel like you were in their place at one time, and now you’re all the better because of what you did: hence, the product or idea you’re conveying. Rattling off the technical specifications may seem like a great idea, but how are they going to help the customer? If you make it a point to tell them how this certain feature is going to cut down on their time spent, which in turn will allow them to spend more time with their kids, then of course they’re going to be more open to buy the product.

Embracing your audience in an online capacity doesn’t have to be the bear that you make it out to be. Using the three rules above, you’ll find that your conversions will start to spike. Market your products and services the way that you would to a friend or colleague, but keep it professional. Establish your credibility by telling them about the features and the drawbacks of it. And lastly, empathize with your audience. Make them feel like you were once a misguided newbie like they are and now you’ve found the error of your ways.

Embracing your audience is essential if you want to make headway in the marketing business, as there is so much competition. Utilizing these three rules will definitely give you a leg up in the process of finding your niche and establishing a great income.
