SOCIALIZING:
Socializing with your co-workers is a very normal activity in the work place. Spending most of your waking hours working without interaction with others would lead to a unhealthy environment. We all have issues that needed to be expressed from time to time and it is acceptable as long as you keep in mind that you are at work to – to work. Remember that others are also trying to complete their tasks at hand and need their quality time to themselves. Too much socializing can cause a disruption for yourself as well as those around you.
WORK AREAS:
Your work area is your own private domain while you are at work. Photos, knick-nacks and some personal items are welcome as long as you don’t clutter your area with articles that will not distract you while your are working. Keeping a neat and functional workplace allows you to keep the scope of things in context. Cluttering up your area with too many personal items can cause it to be more difficult to keep things in the proper perspective.
PERSONAL PHONE CALLS:
There are times when personal phone calls just simply can not be avoided. If you find a need to accept or receive a personal call, just be considerate of the position you are in and those around you. Your co-workers are diligently doing their job and a added distraction can cause a inconvenience on their behalf.
Please remember that you are at work and that time is limited in order for you to have a productive day. The quantity of calls and time you spend on the phone should be kept to a minimum.
BIRTHDAYS:
We know that Birthdays are a very special day for everyone and that you may have some extra curricular activities occurring on this occasion. If it is food, be sure there is enough for everyone, and take into consideration time management, consult your employer before to make sure there is enough time for a birthday break.
VACATION DAYS:
Taking time off from work is perfectly appropriate as long as you have earned the time off. Please keep in mind that while you may not be at work, your position may still need to be covered. Be sure to check your schedule to make sure that your responsibilities will be taken care of while you are away. Consideration of your co-workers being able to comply with you is greatly appreciated. Early notification with your supervisor that you will be absent during those days is imperative.
LUNCH BREAKS:
Lunch breaks should be taken at the designated time given. If you find it necessary to take care of a personal matter during your lunch break and time becomes a issue for you, please notify your co-workers and your supervisor.
Switching lunch breaks with one of your co-workers is permissible as long as it does not cause a inconvenience to any one involved.
BREAK TIME:
Periodical breaks are acceptable as long as they are taken at a appropriate time and do not cause interference with your work schedule and those that are depending on you.
