Thanks Mr. Joseph for the comment! I always love hearing from my readers. And I agree, I think instant feedback provides companies with the ability to tweak their products immediate to adhere to the consumers demands, and social media marketing is exactly what is going to get us there.

I agree I believe that in an aspect Social Media will in the near future have a greater life spand than traditional marketing in the near futre. Due to the fact that more and more business/ companies are adding social media as key to their success. Now a days you cant watch a television commerical or news without them saying "follower us on Twitter". Business created fan pages on Facebooks to target their consumers/customers. I say that companies are now open to the public in regards to what they are doing and are finally listening to us customers for instant feedback to better their products or services.

Jos Vennik, thank you for commenting on my post, it's always nice to hear from my readers.

As for social media becoming a "turn off" for some companies, you're absolutely right, it has happen and it will continue to happen for some companies. It takes a lot of time and a lot of effort to get into the "social media" groove of the new age marketing. To answer your question briefly, I think corporations make their mistake by thinking social media marketing will happen over night. Though social media marketing is faster and more instantaneous that traditional marketing, it still takes time for consumers to find you, become interested in you, the fall in love with you which then results in returning customers.

This makes me think of the Guns and Roses song, 'Patience',
"Need a little patience,
Just a little patience, yeah
Some more patience
I've been walking these streets at night
Just trying to get it right (Need some patience)
It's hard to see with so many around
You know I don't like being stuck in a crowd (Could use some patience, yeah)
And the streets don't change but maybe the name
I ain't got time for the game
'Cause I need you (Patience, yeah)
Yeah, yeah well I need you
Oh, I need you (Take some patience)
Whoa, I need you (Just a little patience is all we need)"

Jos, I hope this answered your question. Have a great day!

Interesting post Marc. I agree that social media marketing becomes more effective due to aiming for individual contacts and actually giving value to their input.

However a lot of companies don't seem to be able to grasp the tool that is social media in such a way that it becomes effective for them. Building a good network through social media takes a lot of time, especially if you're a new player on the market. Which I imagine can work as a "turn off" for lack of a better term and they simply return to what is familiar to them.

Where do you think corporations make their mistakes in relation to social media and why?
